Last night after my opening reception of the exhibition titled “Going Global”held in Philadelphia @ Da Vinci Art Alliance I decided to hurry back to Trenton to catch a special birthday celebration at Conduit nightclub, the club on the first floor of the building where my studio is located. The birthday party was in honor of one of the original Djs from City Gardens Randy Now(Randy Ellis),he was the guy mainly responceable for booking all the cool bands that came there to perform plus he D-jayed on Friday nights.I was curious as to who was going to show up for this party and see who was still around from the old crew who held it down back in the day.I wasn’t disappointed either because I ran into some of the loyal patrons who made it home every week along with all the Djs who made it happen such as Dj Carlos & Dj 175 were in attendance to help Randy celebrate. The only one who was missing in action was Dj Rich O’Brian(He was a bouncer back then) because he plays at a club in Philly so,I guess he was working but when I ran into him a few weeks ago I happened to snap his picture while he was working.
I hung out for a minute, had a beer, said my what ups and headed home.I heard that the Club would be closing for the third and final time its too bad they couldn’t get the balance right because last nights croud would have supported the place if they had the right Djs.City Gardens was the most successful club in the area because everything was affordable for starving artist, you could have five dollars in your pocket, pay 90ยข admission and buy draft beers for the same price and have the time of you life, however this was only on Thursday night which the owner told me one day paid all the bills for the club, you can’t find a deal like that anymore!RedSaid
