Customized 8″ inch Kidrobot Dunnys by KaM© 2017

During the winter months I like to stay inside and work on projects that take some time to complete.

I move into a sculptor frame of mind and work on my favorite kind of 3D canvas called a Dunny platform designed by Tristan Eaton for the super hip designer toy company Kidrobot.

I use polymer clay and some modeling paste to create some of the personal characters that seem to create themselves because there is no preliminary skectches or drawing.

I leave them out for a while until an idea hits me then I begin to execute what it is I see in my minds eye.

Home of the honest artist.

9/11 video @Red Balloon Studio
The producer of this video exposé just posted this to my Facebook page a few days ago. I am so grateful for this footage to now be viewed by the entire world. It illustrates the power I posses to predict certain events when I gather information through the media.

This creation no longer exists in its original state but I am so grateful that this film was created to preserve one of the greatest works of art I’ve ever produced.

Almost perfect timing with the “World Aids Day” recognition December 1st. of every year.
I have had an interesting journey to get to where I sit and write today.
There are snippets of the story along with detailed accounts of everything thats missing in this fantastic article written by Susan Van Dongen who came by the studio last May for the Interview.

I must give her a lot of respect for allowing me to get it out there for the world to read.
Check it out!

34TH Street Manhattan © KaM© 2016

Just recently I have been able to move about more freely due to the nice hot summer weather. I’ve had a few things on my mind to check out while I had the chance and I accomplished what I could within reason.
One was to walk the Highline elevated park in Manhattan as far as I could, then find the new Whitney museum.

The second goal was to once again travel to New York City and get on the Staten Island Ferry and ride it across the bay to Staten Island and back to Manhattan.

So far I have accomplished one which is to find the Whitney Museum via the Highline and enjoy the sights & people in and around the area. It’s one of my favorite locations now in Manhattan now that I have explored it.

I even had to return to it sooner than I expected because on the day I was there I lost my iPod and miraculously someone sent me an email letting me know that they had found it.

I have always been sort of lucky in Manhattan so this to me is an indication that I should try and make a go at it again to see how far my artwork can take me? I LOVE NEW YORK!

It’s so nice to get a second opportunity to introduce yet another passion of mine ‘Fashion Sportswear’ for women; which is one of the fastest growing retail items I’ve ever seen!
Never since stretch paints in the 70’s and ‘Biker Shorts’ in the 1980’s have I seen such a beautiful display of leg wear worn by women of all shapes & sizes.
Even if they don’t actually workout in these garments they are a perfect compliment to any oversized tee shirt or a boyfriend’s dress shirt freshly pressed.

The designs are available through my Society6 web page [link located to the left of home page.] or you can contact me direct via email
to place an order personally.

Two exhibitions that are on view right now locally have a significant point of reference which is the artwork produced by three artists.
The timing couldn’t be any better to see the artwork of an artist and where his or her influence comes from first hand all at once by visiting two local museums during the month of August.

To make a long story short and interesting I will start by saying “These two artist Jean Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring are really at the center when it comes to understanding my particular style of mixing Neo-expressionism Pop and social political issues all together.

I’ve also left clues to the past by using images from art history that I find relevant and to the point I’m trying to make. Most people have no idea that I am a part of that movement Howie Montaug coined “The New York Downtown 500” of which I was number 499 if anyone is counting.

On August 9th I gave a gallery talk at the museum and I simply instructed the audience to visit the Princeton Art Museum to look at the work of Jean Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring then return to the Trenton City Museum and look once again at my two sculptures. Clearly you will see the heavy influence these two artists had on me and my continuation of the dialog that is still relevant to todays social and moral issues.

Rarely do I post pictures of new works of art on this blog page but, I must have something to show someone who may be interested in seeing my artwork.

The working method has changed dramatically from what I’ve been working on for the past year, it seems that experimentation is the optimal word here because I love to push the boundaries between past & present influences.

This time I’ve taken a step back in order to move forward using collage as the main ingredient. The materials are also a revisit from past experiments with stencil and spray paint and of course my WOWO® technique.

The subject matter is a little softer in content and I call these paintings ‘Cafe Style’ in the sense that the narrative is romance and longevity.

Yesterday I got the opportunity to put on some fresh clothing furnished by BACHRACH inside the Quakerbridge mall. Then I was to be Interviewed by Jacque Howard creator of TRENTON365 and radio personality for WIMG a community based station that focuses on local community activity.

In the Interview I told Mr.Howard that fashion was my first creative interest and I enjoy wearing great clothes every now & then. It really depends on the affair I’m attending.

I felt the Interview went well although I always feel that I am stumbling over my words or get tangled up in my thought process and forget what information I’m trying to deliver whenever I’m Interviewed by somebody.

Happy Birthday Keith and Thoughful Keith shown in photograph.

"Keep Watch" Dunny Kidrobot x Mishka

Part of my healing process after my transformation has been collecting and customizing vinyl action figures. Some I reimagine and totally make an entire new creation others I leave alone, it depends.
I seem to fined great pleasure in just having these objects on display in my studio for inspiration and comfort.
The thrill of trying to purchase these small works of art due to their limited release is comparable to big game hunting in the bush.
Once you get your hands on them it is totally up to you weather you want to admire it as it is or, think of something to do with it?

The mascots created by Kidrobot in collaboration with PRODUCT (RED)® x Keith Haring Foundation to fight against AIDS in Africa are great figures to customize and add the face of the artist who’s characters are all over the figure.

The other fantastic looking figure the Dunny is another collaboration by Kidrobot x MISHKA that I mentioned in my last post I went to Brooklyn for to pick up. This one is so cool looking that I promised myself I will not touch it mainly because of the way I acquired it. (Lol)
